MARCH 2026
The 6th edition of “Tapas y Alegría 2026” was a success, with around 100 volunteers and 250 attendees enjoying a unique atmosphere of solidarity. The funds raised will go towards financing GAM asbl’s projects in 2027. The GAM asbl team will take part in the Brussels 20 km on 31 May 2026 with 22 runners, starting from the Cinquantenaire Park. In addition, GAM’s 2026 project in Canelos (Ecuador) has already got underway with refurbishment work on accommodation for community leaders, including improvements to bathrooms, painting, plumbing, electricity and security. The work will continue throughout 2026.

FEBRUARY 2026
GAM asbl starts its events season with the 6th edition of “Tapas y Alegría”, which will take place on 20 and 21 March with the collaboration of around 100 volunteers, with the aim of raising funds for GAM projects in 2027. In addition, the association is putting together a team to run the Brussels 20 km on 31 May 2026. Finally, the school sponsorship campaign in Cambodia continues in 2026, benefiting 47 children.

JANUARY 2026
In January 2026, five GAM asbl projects were launched in various countries: in Cambodia, Kenya, Colombia and in Canelos (Ecuador). The total investment approved for 2026 amounts to €26,905.52. In 2026, GAM asbl’s school sponsorship campaign for Cambodian children aged 3 to 15 will continue.

In December, the 2025 GAM projects were finalised, their expenses were justified, and the budgets and documentation that will form part of the annual report were updated. In addition, planning began for the activities of 2026 and the management of five new GAM projects that will be launched in different countries starting in January of 2026.

In November, GAM asbl organised following events: its famous Annual Dinner with a presentation of GAM's projects for 2026 and testimonials from GAM's humanitarian trip to Cambodia; the activities of the GAM association during Solidarity Month 2025; the renewal of the agreement to join the FZO for 2026–2030; the Samburu women's trip to Nairobi, which was an enriching experience for them; and the traditional Christmas dinner with GAM volunteers.

OCTOBER 2025
In October 2025, GAM asbl organised a training session for its volunteers to present its objectives and recruit new collaborators. The Administration Board of GAM asbl, meeting on 21 October, approved the projects and budgets for 2026, as well as a new event planned for May. The five GAM 2026 projects are: infrastructure renovation in Ecuador, solar energy installation in the Colombian Amazon, literacy for children in Cambodia, empowerment of Samburu women in Kenya, and training for project managers in Colombia. Finally, during the 9th virtual meeting of GAM asbl with its partners in the South, we evaluated the 2025 projects and presented the GAM 2026 projects.

AUGUST 2025
The GAM asbl association organised its 9th humanitarian trip in August; on this occasion, our volunteers travelled to Cambodia. GAM asbl will participate in Solidarity Month 2025, organised by the Commune of Etterbeek, with activities related to healthy eating. In addition, the call for GAM 2026 projects will open in September and the approved projects will be presented during the next Annual Dinner on 8 November.

One of the most eagerly awaited activities within the GAM 2024 project for the training and empowerment of Samburu women, which is being developed in Lodoung'okwe (Kenya), is the annual visit to Nairobi, during which the women beneficiaries of the project receive training sessions that alternate with visits to the Kenyan capital.

Kenya is currently the most developed country in East Africa. Despite this, Kenya is a very unequal country with very high levels of poverty. GAM asbl’s projects are developed in the most marginalised and poorest places, such as the desert region where the Samburu and Turkana tribes live.

Christmas is coming and with it the last days of December. Consciously or unconsciously, we take stock of the year 2021, marked once again by the pandemic and its consequences, both health and economic. It has undoubtedly been a difficult year, in which the mistrust of some and the desperation of others have led to a generalised exhaustion from which no one knows when we will recover. However, all this should not prevent us from looking forward to 2022 with hope and excitement. Quite the contrary.
