In October 2025, GAM asbl organised a training session for its volunteers to present its objectives and recruit new collaborators. The Administration Board of GAM asbl, meeting on 21 October, approved the projects and budgets for 2026, as well as a new event planned for May. The five GAM 2026 projects are: infrastructure renovation in Ecuador, solar energy installation in the Colombian Amazon, literacy for children in Cambodia, empowerment of Samburu women in Kenya, and training for project managers in Colombia. Finally, during the 9th virtual meeting of GAM asbl with its partners in the South, we evaluated the 2025 projects and presented the GAM 2026 projects.

The GAM asbl association organised its 9th humanitarian trip in August; on this occasion, our volunteers travelled to Cambodia. GAM asbl will participate in Solidarity Month 2025, organised by the Commune of Etterbeek, with activities related to healthy eating. In addition, the call for GAM 2026 projects will open in September and the approved projects will be presented during the next Annual Dinner on 8 November.

We are making progress this year with the Samburu women's education and entrepreneurship project in two communities. In Mugur, the work continues thanks to the service of teacher Ann Lempei, who for several years has been dedicated to teaching these women to read and write.

The sixth edition of ‘Tapas y Alegría’ will take place on 14 and 15 March 2025, starting at 19.30, in the ‘Le Cercle’ hall (rue Doyen Boone, 6 - Etterbeek). This is one of the three annual events organised by GAM asbl to raise funds for its projects.

November 2024 - Virtual meeting with Samburu women

One of the most eagerly awaited activities within the GAM 2024 project for the training and empowerment of Samburu women, which is being developed in Lodoung'okwe (Kenya), is the annual visit to Nairobi, during which the women beneficiaries of the project receive training sessions that alternate with visits to the Kenyan capital.

July 2024 - GAM projects in Kenya

Kenya is currently the most developed country in East Africa. Despite this, Kenya is a very unequal country with very high levels of poverty. GAM asbl’s projects are developed in the most marginalised and poorest places, such as the desert region where the Samburu and Turkana tribes live.

The water has to be scooped out of the sand drop by drop and this task involves such an effort that, by the evening, the women who have scooped the sgu and carried it on their backs are exhausted and breathless for anything else.

Christmas is coming and with it the last days of December. Consciously or unconsciously, we take stock of the year 2021, marked once again by the pandemic and its consequences, both health and economic. It has undoubtedly been a difficult year, in which the mistrust of some and the desperation of others have led to a generalised exhaustion from which no one knows when we will recover. However, all this should not prevent us from looking forward to 2022 with hope and excitement. Quite the contrary.
