GAM 2024 ProjectsThroughout the month of June we have been receiving the interim reports (6 first months of 2024) and some photos of the GAM 2024 projects. All of them are making good progress, such as the construction and equipping of the community hall in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, or the reforestation project with indigenous species in Potosí, both in Bolivia, and some, such as the construction of the greenhouse in Medellín or the remodelling of the Queremal community hall, both in Colombia, are already well underway. Others, however, such as the Samburu women's literacy and empowerment project in Kenya, have had more difficulties in the first months of the year. The drought season forces the project beneficiaries to take time off to fetch water from further afield, so they are unable to follow the courses as regularly as they should. However, thanks to the support of their teachers, although the pace slowed down between February and April, the women were able to make good progress in the last months of the first half of 2024. The "3000 Friends" farm in Nairobi, Kenya, has suffered major flooding during the last few months of rain, which has affected the facilities, and therefore the course of the training sessions, for several days. In Cambodia, of the 30 children who started the literacy course in January 2024, six of them stopped attending school after the start of the Cambodian New Year in February 2024. However, the remaining 24 children are making good progress in their education. All in all, the projects, some with more difficulties than others, are all achieving the expected results for the benefit of the local communities. The members of the Board of Directors and the General Assembly of GAM asbl were informed of the progress of the projects and the current state of GAM asbl's financial accounts at the meetings held on 28 June.
