10th MEETING BETWEEN GAM ASBL AND ITS SOUTHERN PARTNERS: PROGRESS REPORT ON GAM ASBL’S PROJECTS IN 2026 On 23 April, GAM asbl held its 10th virtual meeting with its partners in the Global South, bringing together those responsible for GAM asbl’s projects in Africa (Kenya), Asia (Cambodia) and Latin America (Ecuador and Colombia). This meeting served to monitor GAM asbl’s projects, assess their current status and the extent to which they have been implemented. All projects are underway; some, such as the one in Ecuador, have even been completed. Their implementation is proceeding without major difficulties. In June, we will receive the interim project reports, containing information on their progress during the first six months of 2026.
SUBMISSION OF INFORMATION SHEETS FOR CHILDREN PARTICIPATING IN THE SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP CAMPAIGN IN CAMBODIA
Throughout April, information sheets about the beneficiary children have been sent to the families taking part in the school sponsorship campaign for Cambodian children. These sheets include a photo of the child, as well as information about their personality and family situation, and details of their academic progress during the first few months of the 2026 school year. We are currently arranging a video call with the children for the European families taking part in this school sponsorship campaign, to be held whilst the children are at school, so that they can say hello and get to know the people here who are supporting them.

“TAPAS Y ALEGRÍA 2026”: A CELEBRATION OF SOLIDARITY, DANCE AND JOY The 6th edition of “Tapas y Alegría” was a resounding success. A two-day event during which GAM asbl played an undeniable leading role. Solidarity, joy and dance were the axes of an event that has now established itself as one of the most important charity events of the year. “Tapas y Alegría” benefited from the support of around a hundred volunteers and welcomed some 250 people, who were able to enjoy the show, delicious tapas and Spanish drinks, and above all, a relaxed atmosphere marked by joy and solidarity. The funds raised will be used to finance GAM’s projects in 2027. The dates for the 7th edition of “Tapas y Alegría” have already been set: 12 and 13 March 2027. We hope to see you again all there!
GAM 2026 PROJECT IN CANELOS, ECUADOR
We have received an initial report from Canelos, Ecuador, regarding the start of renovation work on the buildings intended to accommodate community leaders participating in the meetings and activities organised in the area. The co-financing funds from GAM asbl for the project were received in January, allowing work to begin immediately. The improvements planned for this first phase include: • Tiling of the steps. • Extension and refurbishment of the bathroom to combine the shower and toilet into a single functional space. • General repainting of interior walls. • Installation of new door panels. • Replacement of plumbing for both the shower and the toilet. • Installation of handrails for greater safety. • Upgrading of the electrical system with new wiring. The works will continue, in several phases, throughout 2026. In June, we expect to receive the interim report detailing the progress of these works. GAM ASBL SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP CAMPAIGN 2026
In 2026, the school sponsorship campaign for Cambodian children continues, coordinated by GAM asbl as part of its literacy and education project for Cambodian boys and girls aged between 3 and 15. The cost of school sponsorship remains the same as in previous years: €33 per child per month, or €393 per year. In 2026, the number of pupils has doubled compared to the previous year: there are 47 children enrolled. The campaign began in January 2026 and will run until December 2026. During this period, information will be sent regarding the children’s development and progress at school. Further information: [email protected]. START OF THE GAM 2026 PROJECTS The 2026 GAM projects were launched in January. In Cambodia, the literacy and education programme for 47 Cambodian children aged between 3 and 15 has taken on greater significance in the local community this year, as the number of children enrolled in school has doubled. We continue to monitor pupils who are continuing their education in specialised schools for children with specific needs. In Kenya, in 2026, a regional programme will be funded to promote literacy, training and entrepreneurship among Samburu women in three localities: Lodoung’Okwe, Barsaloi and Tuum. In Colombia, two projects will be launched: one to install a solar power plant with movable solar panels at facilities used for training and cultural gatherings by local communities in the Colombian Amazon (Mitú Vaupés), and a second project, in Medellín, aimed at launching a comprehensive training programme for project managers in development cooperation, addressing key issues such as social commitment, child protection and community empowerment. The aim is also to train project managers in project design, management, monitoring, evaluation and follow-up. Each session will consist of six training modules or workshops, one of which will be organised and led by GAM, both in terms of structure and content. The fifth project co-funded by GAM asbl in 2026 will take place in Canelos, Ecuador: this is the second phase of the project to build and renovate infrastructure for training sessions and accommodation for community leaders in the Ecuadorian Amazon. GAM’s total investment in its 2026 projects, approved by the association’s Board of Directors, will amount to €26,905.52. GAM ASBL SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP CAMPAIGN 2026

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2025 AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026 CLOSING OF THE YEAR 2025 AND PREPARATION OF THE PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS OF GAM IN 2026
In December, the GAM projects for 2025 were finalised and their expenses justified. The budgets and expenses for the events held were updated, and work began on updating all the documentation for the year, which will be included in the 2025 report and can be consulted on the GAM website when it is completed. Also in December, we began enthusiastically planning GAM's activities for 2026 and managing the five new projects that the association will launch in January 2026 in Ecuador, Colombia, Kenya and Cambodia. GAM ANNUAL DINNER 2025 The GAM 2025 Annual Dinner, held on 8 November, attracted numerous benefactors, volunteers and friends of GAM asbl. This edition surpassed previous ones, returning to the good figures of a few years ago. It was a nice evening, during which we enjoyed a delicious paella prepared by our group of kitchen volunteers, who had been working hard since early in the morning to get everything ready. During the dinner, an evaluation of GAM's projects in 2025 was carried out and the projects for 2026, recently approved by the association's Administration Board, were presented. Those who participated in the 9th GAM Humanitarian Trip (Cambodia) in August shared their experiences and impressions about their visit to the GAM project and their contact with the beneficiaries and the people who make it possible. For them, it was an intense and unique experience, and they wanted to give a beautiful testimony to GAM benefactors and volunteers. In short, it was an evening full of emotions and hope. Thank you to everyone who made it possible!
FZO MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT RENEWED (2026 - 2030) GAM asbl has renewed its membership agreement with FZO for the period 2026 - 2030. The FZO, Federation of Autonomous Organisations, is a socio-cultural association covering different areas and promoting the integration, emancipation and participation of the different communities in Flanders. The FZO is a national association (federation) recognised and subsidised by the Flemish Community, with different members, nuclei and sections. Since 1 July 2007, the FZO has also been recognised as a federation by the Flemish Community Commission in Brussels. It differs from other federations in its multicultural composition: its members come from all corners of the world, thus creating a community of “global village dwellers”. VISIT BY SAMBURU WOMEN TO NAIROBI In November, Samburu women from the Lodoung'Okwe communities, beneficiaries of the GAM 2025 literacy and training programme, made a five-day visit to Nairobi as part of the project's activities. For some of them, it was the first time they had left home. In Nairobi, the women attended several training sessions, which they combined with excursions and cultural visits. All of these women, who came from three villages in Lodoung'Okwe, greatly enjoyed the experience and thanked GAM for its support and for the opportunity to make this trip, which was an extremely enriching experience for all of them.
GAM VOLUNTEER TRAINING On 20 October, a training session (the second organised by GAM) was held for GAM volunteers, both those who already collaborate with the association and those who are interested in collaborating but do not know how. During the two-hour training session, GAM's strategy and objectives, its operation and the activities it carries out annually were explained. These sessions are important not only to raise awareness of the association's strategy and structure, but also to recruit volunteers to help us improve our activity and results.
GAM 2026 PROJECTS These are the GAM 2026 projects, approved by the Administration Board of GAM asbl on 21 October:
9th VIRTUAL MEETING OF GAM WITH ITS SOUTHERN PARTNERS
As usual, in October GAM met (virtually) with its partners in the South to inform them of the proposals approved for 2026 and to learn about the status and results of projects nearing completion. On this occasion, we were able to count on representation from all the destinations where GAM develops projects, and project managers informed us of how the objectives are being met. In the coming weeks, they will send us the final reports. In January, we hope to send GAM's co-financing for the five projects GAM will support in 2026. Vertical Divider
SOLIDARITY MONTH 2025. INITIATIVE BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF ETTERBEEK. In 2025, GAM asbl will participate in Solidarity Month 2025, an important initiative organised and funded by the Commune of Etterbeek to raise awareness of the work and results of projects carried out by organisations based in this commune in favour of the most disadvantaged. GAM's activity is scheduled for 9 November 2025 and combines a talk-workshop on GAM and its projects with an information and awareness-raising stand for the association. This year's main theme will be promoting healthy eating and lifestyle habits among children and adolescents. You can find more information about the activities included in the programme for Solidarity Month 2025 in the Etterbeek Commune at this link.
GAM 2026 PROJECTS: RECEIPT AND EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS The deadline for submitting GAM asbl projects for 2026 was 30 September 2025. Fifteen proposals have been received, which will undergo an evaluation period to ensure that they comply with GAM asbl's strategy and objectives, the main condition for their selection. They will then have to be approved by the GAM asbl Board of Directors, which will take place at the end of October, before the GAM Annual Dinner, where the 2026 GAM projects will be officially presented to the association's benefactors, volunteers and supporters. In the meantime, at the end of 2025, we expect to receive the final reports on the seven projects supported by GAM asbl during this year.Haz clic aquí para editar.
