Construction of a greenhouse and production of vegetable and ornamental plants
  • Location: Medellín, Antioquia
  • Year: 2024
  • Objectives:
    • ​Construction and equipping of a greenhouse as a first stage, and planting of horticultural and ornamental plants as a second stage of the project.
    • The vegetables grown will serve to ensure the food needs of low-income families.
    • The ornamental plants will then be put on sale, which will provide an income for these families.
    • The project will be complemented by training sessions that will enable the beneficiaries to obtain a better result from the use of the greenhouse and the sale of the ornamental plants.

  • Objectives:
    • ​​Repair, refurbishment and equipping of the multifunctional and multipurpose hall with a view to leaving it in excellent condition for training sessions of all kinds, cultural, social, community and religious events.
  • Direct beneficiaries: Approximately 700 people
  • Total budget: 6,400 €

Equipment of rooms for training sessions (also by videoconference) for vulnerable groups

  • Location: Medellín
  • Year: 2017 (2022)
  • Objectives:
    • To provide the local community with a meeting place to inform about those aspects and social issues that directly affect them (health, drugs, problems of adolescents, women, etc.)
    • Training and education of young people and adults in the use of digital tools to increase employment opportunities.
  • Direct beneficiaries: 300 people (vulnerable population)
  • Total budget: 15.000 €

Training center for youth of the Pacific

  • Location: Cali
  • Years: 2014, 2015 and 2016 (project developed in three phases)
  • Objectives: Construction of an educational center in three phases:
    • Phase I (2014): Renewal and adaptation of the training center and launch of the first health activities (children).
    • Phase II (2015) and Phase III (2016): Various training courses adapted to the demands of families in accordance with the work of psychologists, nurses and teachers. Monitoring of training sessions.
    • The aim of the project was to set up a support program for young people, adolescents and young couples, to prevent social problems linked to the formation of gangs, vandalism and the consumption of drugs. This center hosted courses by professionals in psychology, health and family policy in programs developed with representatives of different categories of the population, both young and old.

Establishing Small Farms: Adapting Traditional Farming Methods to Ensure Food Safety

  • Location: Acaricuara, Mitú-Vaupés
  • Year: 2009
  • Objectives:
    • Adaptation of traditional farming methods to ensure food safety.
    • The establishment of small family farms required minimal but quality tools. The intervention of GAM asbl enabled the operation of 45 family production units which were quickly imitated and even improved by the various villages of the region (the traditional “granjas”).
    • The organization of 30 productive plots was managed by women with the participation of their families in the frame of organization, training (accounting and product marketing program), technical assistance and promotion of organic fertilizers.
    • This corresponded to the general framework of the food safety policy.
